Huge Carpinus betulus/European Hornbeam bonsai field-grown for years. This is a rare opportunity to purchase a big statement-piece Hornbeam for the garden, and with such branch development already. The tree was repeatedly pruned back for many years hence the superb branch movement and taper.

Dug up and potted 2 years ago into a 24"/60cm (!) wide plastic bonsai training pot, I bare-rooted the tree and it is in an excellent bonsai soil mixture that will last indefinitely. Due to its training, the rootball is very shallow and spreads fairly evenly around the trunkbase.

The tree was hard-pruned last November. The latest updated image while the tree is in leaf was taken in August 2025. The tree HAS to be collected in person from HP21 although I could possibly ship on a pallet.

As with all bonsai available on the bonsai4me.com/shop, this tree has been treated with Danu from ProBio Carbon to encourage disease resistance and bushier, better distributed growth habit.
